CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
February 11, 2022
• The preconstruction meeting for the Public Works Building has been scheduled for
Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. I should have a schedule for the project at Tuesday’s
meeting.
• Shawver completed the test well at the water plant site and moved their equipment to
the soccer field site late last week. After clearing the snow, they positioned the drill
rig at the well site to begin work this week. They anticipate getting most of the
casing set and grouted if all goes as planned. After installation of the casing, both
wells will be tested. Shawver will then pull water quality test samples after test
pumping. We should be able to get some of the more significant sample results
relatively quickly with others taking several weeks to obtain. Shawver drilled the
open hole into the Silurian formation on Thursday and should be able to complete
most of work by Monday. The test pumping is tentatively scheduled towards the end
of next week.
• I’m sure most of you have already heard this but the North Liberty Leader will cease
publication and this week’s issue was its final one. We are currently looking at other
options for the City’s official newspaper.
• Henderson Products contacted Brian Detert earlier this week to come and do a final
inspection on the City’s dump truck. Everything went well and if their schedules
holds, we should have the truck before Tuesday’s meeting. If that ends up being the
case, Brian will have the truck in the parking lot for everyone to take a look at prior to
the meeting.
• Tiffin Rec Fest, with council consensus, will be scheduled for Saturday, July 23rd.
