______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL July 1, 2022 • The Original Town Urbanization project is winding down. The brick pavers at the intersection of Second and Grant Street was completed this week. Sidewalks and driveway approaches still need to be poured on the north side of Second Street between College and Grant Street as well as the west side of Grant Street between Second and Third Street. That work should start next week. • Progress continues to go well on the new Public Works Building. There are just a few more little site preparation items to be completed and we should start to see the building go vertical about the middle of July. • Very good news from the Well #5 test well this week. Shawver completed test pumping on the well and took water quality samples that were sent off for testing. They were able to pump the well at just over 500 gpm over the 24 hours period while maintaining approximately 35 feet of water above the pump. This is a significant improvement over the initial yield of 50 gpm. The acidizing was very effective and has given us a good well to serve the City. We will use the 500 gpm test pump rate to size the pump and electrical hardware that will be included in the next phase of project. This next phase of work will be a separate project to include the well pump, drop pipe, pitless unit, meter pit, controls, water main and grading. It will be submitted to the IDNR and the IAIS Railroad for permitting. Setting the bid date and public hearing date for this phase of the project is on the regular agenda. • Brianna Wilkerson and Frank Haege will give an update on the Tiffin Rec Fest during the Reports portion of the agenda. Everything for the event seems to be coming together very nicely. Attached is a flyer for the event. • Just a friendly reminder that I will be out of the office July 13th – July 15th at the IaCMA Summer Conference.
