______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL May 12, 2023 • Item G-1 – Yesterday we uncovered a mathematical error in the budget amendment. Because of that, we will need to republish the notice and have a special city council meeting on May 30th. On Tuesday night we will open and close the public hearing but just take no action. Resolution No. 2023-031 will reset the public hearing. Attached is the corrected budget amendment. • Representatives from MSA Professional Services will be at the June 6th work session to give a detailed update on the water system pilot test. A quick update on the pilot is that the equipment is supposed to be delivered next week. Everything should be installed and hooked up soon after and be ready to operate by the end of the month. • Progress continues on the design for the connection at Kimberlite and Highway 6. As I’ve mentioned before, even though the DOT won’t do a full reconstruction until 2027, a temporary connection is moving forward that will blend into the permanent pavement. This includes the City’s connection on the south side of the intersection as well as the construction/connection of the straight-through road in the park. Attached is a conceptual drawing of the intersection, connection and straight-through road that is currently under review by MSA. • The Public Works Department has completed the installation of all the water sampling stations. They will be going back to all 13 locations within the next couple of weeks to do the ground restoration work. Starting today, they will begin the removal of the roundabout wall and shaving down the bank in preparation for the plantings that will replace it. I am working with the DOT on the permit. • The (State) City Development Board meeting was on Wednesday of this week in which they approved the annexation of the parcel located at 3287 Ireland Avenue (parcel of ground west of Kum & Go). The annexation will become official within the next 30 days once everything gets recorded. • A draft of the City’s audit has been completed by BerganKDV. The process went very well and they were great to work with. After the internal review is complete, we will get an official copy. Abigail and I will share the findings with the council during one of the upcoming work sessions. • Just a friendly reminder the City-Wide Clean-up Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 20th. Like last year, the location will be at the Tiffin Auxiliary Field parking lot.
