______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL September 15, 2023 • The all-way stop analyses from the MPO are attached to the resolutions for the specific intersection. As we talked about at the last meeting, the analyses are meant to act as guidance for the City to determine the need for additional stop signs. The analyses are not meant to be definite determining factor of what could be done at the intersection. • The railroad crossing on South Park Road remains scheduled for replacement next week. Work is supposed to start right away on Monday morning and should be completed and reopened before the end of the day on Friday (if not sooner). The DOT has had a message board along South Park Road notifying the vehicular traffic of the closing and the City has posted closing notices on the website and Facebook page. The DOT will have the bridge over I-80 open during the crossing replacement but will close it again shortly afterwards as there is still some work left to be done before it can fully be opened. • The Open House for the Public Works Building is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. General tours of the building will be given along with serving some light refreshments. • I met with Sheriff Kunkel last week to start reviewing next year’s law enforcement contract. Like we’ve done in the past, the Sheriff would like to address the council with his thoughts on how to best serve the Tiffin community. As we have done during the budget process, I’d like to propose having a special council meeting prior to the first council meeting in October to discuss this topic to give it all the time and attention it needs. • Next week is the Iowa League of Cities Annual Conference in Cedar Rapids starting on Wednesday evening and continuing through Friday morning with the bulk of the workshops taking place on Thursday. With the large group we have going this year, I would like to coordinate transportation (as best we can) to and from the event with everyone on Tuesday night.
