______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL September 29, 2023 • With the completion of the test pilot for the reverse osmosis treatment option for the upgrade to the Water Plant, I’d like to schedule a department tour of the plant within the next couple of work sessions. I think this would be a good time to review the current layout of the facility and take a look at some of the potential changes that will happen to the facility with the proposed plant upgrade. The results of the pilot are being put together right now as part of the preliminary engineering report that will be sent to the DNR for review. We expect the review from the DNR to take up to three months. • The new stop signs and stop ahead signs have been installed at the intersection of Goldfinch Drive and Potter Street. The new style of blinking signs stands out much more than the previous style of signs. Please take a look at the installation prior to the meeting on Tuesday night. • The railroad crossing replacement project on South Park Road went well last week. The project actually opened a day ahead of schedule. The DOT has now reclosed the bridge over I-80 to complete the work on the remaining approach and the guardrails. The DOT anticipates reopening the bridge in November. • Boomerang will have a crew in town to start the clearing and grubbing portion of the Potter Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor project within the next couple of weeks. That work should take approximately a month to complete. From there they will begin the pipe work in either late November or early December. • Ben Carhoff is close to completing the plans and specifications for phase three of the Original Town Urbanization Project. Once those plans are reviewed, the council will set a public hearing for the project. We are still anticipating a December letting and award. • Just a friendly reminder the next Joint Entities Meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 16th at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be hosted by the Iowa City Community School District and will be at their district office located at 1725 North Dodge Street. If anyone has an agenda item they would like to have discussed, please submit it to me prior to Wednesday, October 11th.
