PHASE 200 : Data Collection
The following is a list of scope items to be completed as part of this contract, which is for field investigation only. A scope for design, plans preparation, and engineers estimates for the aspects listed in the PROJECT DESCRIPTION will be provided under a separate contract.
• Right-of-Way Research & Boundary Survey: utilize existing plat information and/or iron property pins found in the field to determine existing right-of-way locations with project limits. Ordering and review of title reports for an estimated 10 parcels requiring right-of-way acquisition is included. Title reports are estimated to be $700 per parcel.
• Contact Utility One Call: utilize marking and mapping provided by one-call agency to assess locations of existing private utilities in the area.
• Topographic Survey: collect topographic survey cross sections every 50’ out to and 20’ beyond the right-of-way throughout the project limits. Collect information of private and public utilities marked within project corridor.
• Hydraulic Survey: collect topographic and stream channel information to establish current hydraulic conditions at existing box culverts east of Kimberlite St. It is assumed that the existing box culvert east of S Brown St will be extended and not replaced and no hydraulic survey is necessary.
• Utility Structure Survey: investigate utility structures to obtain field measured invert elevations, penetrating pipe information, condition assessment, locations of water main valves, and measure downs to top of valves.
• Coordinate sub-surface investigation: field-locate borings, and record elevations of borings.
• Development of Basemap: basemap of survey information collected will be developed for use in project plans and design.
Assumptions
• MSA understands that design plans for a temporary signal system and widening of USH 6 at Kimberlite St have been developed by a separate consultant and approved by the Iowa DOT. Construction of the temporary signal system and widening of USH 6 is anticipated to be completed in late 2024/early 2025. Once constructed, additional topographic survey data will need to be collected to accurately represent existing conditions in final design plans and construction cost estimates. An amendment to complete this work will be provided at a later date.
