CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
December 15, 2023
• As a result of the last work session, Dave Wilson is preparing a Memorandum of
Understanding for the further investigation and placement (lease) of an EMA storage
facility on the City owned parcel of ground located at Forevergreen Road and Bailey
Way. Once the memorandum has been drafted, it will be run by Legal before it
comes to the council for formal approval.
• Although I will send out another reminder next week, please complete and submit
your Brand Identity survey that was sent to you last week. If you are having issues
with the link(s), please let me know as there are a couple of other ways the survey can
be accessed. The deadline to complete the survey is Tuesday.
• Last week we had the preconstruction meeting for the Sidewalk Connection to Soccer
Fields project. Because of the warm temperatures, McComas-Lacina has already
started the project. They will work as long as they can until the temperatures turn
colder. If the weather holds, it is very possible they may be able to complete the long
stretch of sidewalk from the tennis courts to the north edge of the parking lot.
• At the beginning of this year, Johnson County received the prestigious designation of
becoming the fourth HEARTSafe Community in the nation. This is an incredible
award and as a result of achieving the 13 critical criteria required for HEARTSafe
status, the county has received the official signage indicating its commitment to
citizen health and safety. As a participating community, Tiffin has been invited to the
December 20th Board of Supervisor’s work session to receive its sign. I am planning
on attending the meeting. If anyone else would like to join me, please let me know.
• The Ice Rink boards were assembled earlier this week. We are still waiting for the
liner to be delivered but with the forecasted temperatures, we are easily into January
before we will fill the rink.
• Attached is the proposed budget calendar and schedule for the upcoming budget
process. Most of these dates coincide with council meetings but as we have had to do
in previous years, please be prepared for a special city council meeting(s) to be able
to complete the budget.
• Just an FYI, on Thursday the DOT opened the bridge on South Park Road over
Interstate 80.
• Just a friendly reminder of the holiday schedule for City Hall: Closed on Monday,
December 25th and Tuesday, December 26th. Closed on Monday, January 1st and
Tuesday, January 2nd.
