CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
January 5, 2024
• Item I-1 – This resolution is identical to the resolution that was approved last year for
Phases I and II of the Villages Urban Revitalization Area (Hunt Club). Just as a
reminder, this original tax abatement was approved in 2017, for all four phases of the
Hunt Club project. With the approval of this resolution, only Phase IV remains which
will more than likely be completed this year.
• Just FYI, there is a possibility of having a Special City Council Meeting on Tuesday,
January 30th for the purpose of the first budget review. This meeting will depend on
the progress that can be made leading up to then but as we have done in the past,
dedicating a meeting (and possibly more) solely for the budget has helped the formal
approval processes associated with the budget which now will lead us into April.
• The next scheduled Joint Entities Meeting was supposed to be on Monday, January
15th. Since that is Martin Luther King Day, Coralville (the host City) will be
rescheduling the meeting. I hope you have that date prior to the meeting on Tuesday
night.
• McComas-Lacina has made significant progress on the sidewalk project to the soccer
fields. The mainline sidewalk from the tennis courts to the north end of the parking
lot has been poured and they are currently working on the area that leads to the
crosswalk at the roundabout.
• I’ve made contact with the third and final economic development data and strategies
company that councilperson Schnedler and I met with at the ICSC conference last
May. I am making arrangements for Naviretail to present at the January 23rd council
meeting.
