______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL February 16, 2024 • Item I-2 – This transfer resolution is a repeat of the one that was approved at the last meeting. The original ballot language for the LOST vote in 2008 called for 25% of the revenue to go to Park and Recreation. This resolution corrects that. The transfer of the remaining balance to the RUT fund still follows the ballot language. • Item J-1 – This resolution was tabled at the January 23rd council meeting and has gone through a significant revision. With the change in the structure of the Library Board and the library employees coming underneath the umbrella of the City we think this will be a good start to the process and will allow the hiring of a Library Director. • I briefly discussed this at the last meeting but the meeting with the Census Bureau last Wednesday went well. Outside of the cost of the census, there is a list of other requirements the Bureau will need while the census is being conducted. All of those items (office/training space, computers, printer) I believe we are able to provide but I think the bigger item to be concerned about is the outreach or the advertising and promotion of the special census. This is something the Bureau will help us with but ultimately that responsibility falls on the City. The Bureau is still putting together the Memorandum of Agreement for the council to potentially take formal action on. I anticipate having that for the first meeting in March. • I wanted to reiterate that I thought the discussion on the City motto and logo redesign at the last council work session went really well. Katie Reierson and Lexi Luneckas are preparing additional options for the City logo and will be at the March 5th work session for discussion. • Just a friendly reminder, I will be out of the office March 6th – 13th.
