CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
May 2, 2025
• Item I-4 – This is back on the agenda because the amount of the escrow agreement has
changed. Brian Shay and I met with Dan Schmidt with Brain Engineering to double-
check and recalculate the line items and numbers and adjusted them accordingly. The
result is an amount that is about $10,000 less than what was previously approved. The
new escrow agreement and resolution reflects the updated amount.
• Item K-6 – Included in the packet are several quotes related to the upfitting of the new
fire truck which the City is supposed to take delivery of in August. Current estimate of
total expenses for the truck, including all the upfitting, is projected to be very close to
allotted amount of $912,845. For clarity and ease of tracking, I have consolidated all the
quotes into one agenda item so the Council can more easily review and track the
expenses and equipment that will be directly associated with the truck.
• Item K-7 – The next step in the CMaR process for the Recreation Center is for Miron
Construction (as the Construction Manager) to provide the City with a Guaranteed
Maximum Price (GMP) for the project. The GMP becomes an amendment to the
existing professional services contract the City has with Miron. There are still a few
numbers Miron is working through for the GMP but that should be in the packet on
Monday. Also, Brian Stark with Miron Construction will be at the meeting on Tuesday
night to review the GMP with the Council and to answer any questions.
• The first road closure for the North Park Road Project took place on Monday of this
week. This closure is for the installation of the box culvert (pedestrian tunnel) and a lot
of associated utility work that goes along with it. This portion of North Park Road will
be closed for a couple of months. Access to both Oak Hill and Tiffin Elementary
schools remains open.
• Work has started on the widening of Roberts Ferry Road to include the turn lanes onto
West Village Drive. That work should be completed in about three weeks.
• Just a friendly reminder the City-Wide Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, May 10th.
We believe we have everything ready to go and the change in this year’s process of
making it a drop-off only process has been on the City’s website and Facebook Page
since the last council meeting. Also, both local haulers who can provide the pick-up
service for those who can’t bring their material to the drop-off site are on board and
willing to provide that service for the same cost ($25.00) as the City has provided in the
past clean-ups.
• Just another friendly reminder that the Tiffin Emergency Responders Association
Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, May 4th from 6:00 – 11:30 a.m.
at the Tiffin Fire Station. Hope to see you all there!
