• Is the proposed location at Bailey Way and Forevergreen Road the correct location based
on current and future growth and coverage areas?
o Current – no, this is not the best location. Using the ISO coverage circles
previously discussed, this location provides for approximately 35% of the
circle. This location is bound by other department’s jurisdiction to the
north and east.
o Future – this depends on the direction of future growth but almost forces
the issue of a second/satellite station on the west side of town.
• If proposed location is determined to be the best location:
o Is the current design too big for now?
o The concept of the current design was to provide for a station that
accommodates the department now and into the future. There are areas
that are not necessarily needed at this time but likely will be needed in
the near future.
o Should it be built with a future expansion in mind or built in phases?
o Building in phases is always more expensive than all at once, but it is a
possibility and something that should be discussed. Being a good steward
of taxpayer money while preparing for the future is what we are all
striving to do.
o How much of the station could be built as a shell and completed at a future date
with an expansion?
o There are areas that could possibly be shelled and completed at a future
date. Some offices, bunks, and the lounge are what first comes to mind. A
small kitchenette in lieu of a fully furnished kitchen is another idea. It’s
important that we keep in mind that the plan that was shown was very
preliminary and should not be considered final.
o Does it need to be fully furnished now with equipment, desks, beds, lounge, etc.
o For the areas that are finished on day one, yes. For the areas that are to
be shelled and completed at a future date, no.
o Current and future designs need a little better description of the internal make-
up of the station as far as what are current or immediate needs as opposed to
future needs.
o Current needs – offices, training space, bunk rooms and an apparatus bay
are the immediate needs.
o Future needs – kitchen, additional offices and bunk rooms.
o How soon could JCAS move into the station and what would their needs be?
o It’s assumed that JCAS would need an apparatus bay, kitchen/kitchenette,
bunk rooms with a shower and possibly an office or report writing space.
