CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
June 13, 2025
• As reported at the last council meeting, the City’s special census has been rescheduled
for October 15, 2025. We anticipate a kickoff meeting to be set within the next couple
of weeks.
• Work on the East Village Drive continues to progress nicely. After careful evaluation of
the slope in front of the water tower, it appears we will be able to eliminate the proposed
retaining wall. This will be a significant cost savings for the City’s portion of the
project. One other change to the project is the temporary elimination of certain sections
of sidewalk due to a number of mature trees that are in the way. Those sections of
sidewalks will be constructed as development extends eastward on Village Drive.
• Rathje Construction continues to work on the installation of the watermain on East 3rd
Street for the Original Town Project. Once that is completed, there is a stretch of
watermain along Highway 6 that will get installed next. Removal of Main Street and
East 3rd Street is also taking place as there is some infrastructure related to the lot at 301
Main Street that needs to be installed before any mainline work can begin.
• As a result of the last work session, a meeting is being set up to continue the
discussion/interest in the automated license plate reader technology. This meeting
would include representatives from both the City of Tiffin and the Johnson County
Sheriff's Department.
• At the time of this report, items E-2, E-3 and L-2 are still be worked on and will be put
in the electronic packed once they are completed.
