______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL July 12, 2024 • Item K-6 – This low-profile trailer for the Public Works Department is a piece of equipment that Brian Detert discussed during the budget process and was budgeted for. Its primary use will be for the skid steer and mini-excavator. • Just another brief update on the proposed improvements to Highway 6. The DOT put out a summary of the meeting we had on June 26th. The project would involve pavement replacement and widening to three lanes with one lane being a shared turn lane. It would be an urban section with sidewalks. We will be extending the watermain from Croell Avenue to Park Road to provide for a fully looped system. We do not anticipate making any sanitary sewer improvements but the DOT will be doing a box culvert extension and installing a new box culvert on the east end of the project. This project is currently scheduled for a 10/20/2026 bid letting. The estimated cost of construction shown in the final concept was $4,966,450. The current cost estimate is $5,500,000 with the recommendation to replace the two eastern box culverts on the project and the City’s desire to add sidewalk and curb and gutter within project limits. • One last reminder of this year’s Rec Fest which is scheduled for Saturday, August 3rd. Planning continues for this year’s event with the final touches being put on the last of the details. The event flyer is included in the packet. Bri will give a brief update at Tuesday’s meeting. • The next Joint Entities Meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 15th at 4:30 p.m. with a reception starting at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will be hosted by the City of North Liberty at their new City Hall located at 360 North Main Street. Attached is the agenda. • We are three weeks away from the Active Shooter Training Exercise scheduled for Friday, August 2nd at the CCA High School and Middle School facilities.
