CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
August 16, 2024
• Item K-2 – This partial invoice is part of the Developer’s Agreement with Jason
Dumont and the Tiffin Heights West Development. Just as a reminder, in the
developer’s agreement, the City agreed to pay for 67.5% of the water and sewer main
infrastructure.
• On Thursday Brian Detert and I met with Andrew Endhelder from MSA to look at the
water issues and the slope of the alley around the fire station. Although we generally
looked at a couple of options that may work to alleviate the water problems, MSA is
going to start by surveying the area.
• Attached is the Outstanding Obligations Disclosure Statement for 2024. This is an
annual report to the State that shows all the City’s outstanding notes, amounts, purpose
and classification. This is not a report that requires council approval. This ‘financial
snapshot’ is simply for the council’s information.
• Just a friendly reminder of the Iowa League of Cities Annual Conference on September
17-19 in Sioux City. For those of you who would like to go, please let me know and I
will get you registered. I know this is about the furthest away it can be for us to go but
in previous years we have done a nice job of attending this conference. Like previous
years, we will coordinate transportation to the conference. Here is the link to the
conference schedule. https://iowaleague.org/workshops-events/annual-
conference/workshop-amp-events-schedule2/
• Sergeant Hynes and I will be meeting next week to discuss the areas of concern in
reference to current speed limits. I intend to have this topic on the next work session
agenda.
• Item K-4 – In this year’s budget we planned for the purchase of a small pickup for the
Public Works Department much like we did last year for the Water/Wastewater
Department. During the budget process, Brian Detert put together the specifications
for the truck. Attached is the pricing for a Ford Ranger that is currently on the lot at
Lynch Ford.
