CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
August 18, 2023
• Item J-1 – I have this tabled resolution on both the work session and regular agenda
for further discussion. I will have some additional information from our City
Engineer as well as the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department for the work session.
• Just as we did at the last council meeting, Tuesday night will start at 5:00 p.m. for the
second Public Information Session on the Local Option Sales Tax. I will have the
flyers to distribute, the PowerPoint Presentation running and some light refreshments
for those in attendance.
• The DOT ribbon cutting for the 80/380 Interchange Project is scheduled for Friday,
August 25th at 10:00 a.m. on the (closed) Ramp E. I will send out a reminder next
week but if you are able to make it, please let me know so I can get a headcount.
• The last communication I had with the DOT and Interstate Railroad was for the
replacement of the South Park Road crossing to be the week of September 11th. With
work still left to be done on the 80/380 Interchange Project, I believe that date will be
pushed back. I do not have a confirmed date but it is looking more like October 1st
before the South Park Road bridge over I-80 will be completed. If that ends up being
the case, the replacement of the railroad crossing could be pushed back several
weeks.
• The pre-construction meeting for the Potter Creek Sewer Interceptor Project was held
on Thursday, August 10th. Boomerang will be starting the project in the first part of
October.
• Earlier this week Frank and I met with a CCA student who is looking for an Eagle
Scout project that he can do in Tiffin. We brainstormed some ideas and projects and
hope to land on something that will fit the requirements within the next couple of
weeks. We will keep you posted on the potential project options. Depending on
project, we may need council approval to expend City funds.
