The 2026 draft's § 170.19; the current text of its chapter is not in the archive, so it cannot be compared.
Comparison with a draft: not adopted. The archive holds no public hearing, ordinance or vote adopting the recodified Code through the October 20, 2026 meeting packet. Until one is adopted, every page here compares the consolidated code with a draft that can still change: the revised draft with the October 6 changes is not in the archive.
A comparison with the August 2026 draft recodification prepared by Iowa Codification for the City. The draft has not been adopted and can still change; the current code (unofficial compilation) governs until a recodified Code is adopted. Matches between sections are made by machine from the texts and are reviewed where uncertain.

§ 170.19 Block And Lot Standards
The following standards shall apply to the layout of blocks and lots in all subdivisions:
1. No residential block shall be longer than 1,300 feet or shorter than 300 feet measured from street line to street line. The width of blocks should be arranged so as to allow two tiers of lots, with utility easement.
2. In blocks over 700 feet in length, the Council may require a public way or an easement at least 10 feet in width, at or near the center of the block, for use by pedestrians.
3. The size and shape of lots intended for commercial or industrial use shall be adequate to provide for the use intended, and to meet the parking, loading, and other requirements for such uses contained in the zoning ordinance.
4. Lot arrangement and design shall be such that all lots will provide satisfactory building sites, properly related to topography and surrounding land uses.
5. All lots shall comply with all requirements of Chapters 165 through 169 applicable to the zone in which the lot is located.
6. All lots shall abut a public street or an approved private street.
7. Unless unavoidable, lots shall not front, or have direct access to arterial streets. Where unavoidable, lots shall be so arranged as to minimize the number of access points.
8. All lot lines shall be at right angles to straight street lines or radial to curved street lines, except where, in the judgment of the Council, a waiver of this provision will provide a better street and lot layout.
9. Reversed frontage lots are prohibited. Double frontage lots shall only be permitted where abutting a major street and a minor street, and such lots shall front only on minor streets.
