Resolution 2025-075 – Resolution Setting as Public Hearing to Consider Adoption of an Updated Floodplain Management Ordinance for the City of Tiffin, Iowa.

RESOLUTION NO. 2025-075 A RESOLUTION SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF AN UPDATED FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Johnson County, with an effective date of December 26, 2025; and WHEREAS, to remain in good standing with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), the City of Tiffin must adopt a compliant floodplain management ordinance prior to the effective date of the new FIRMs; and WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has provided a model ordinance template incorporating required updates from FEMA and the State of Iowa, which has been customized to reflect Tiffin’s existing ordinance and local conditions; and WHEREAS, the proposed ordinance includes updated definitions, regulatory language, and map references necessary to ensure compliance with NFIP standards and continued eligibility for federally backed flood insurance and disaster assistance; Now, therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Tiffin, Iowa to set the date of public hearing for October 7, 2025, to discuss the adoption of the Updated Floodplain Management ordinance for the City of Tiffin, Iowa. On the 16th day of September, 2025, at a regular meeting of the Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, Councilperson _____ introduced RESOLUTION NO. 2025-075 A RESOLUTION SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF AN UPDATED FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA and made a motion for approval. Ayes: Nays: Absent: Whereupon _____ Council members were present and voted approval and Mayor Berner declared that the RESOLUTION NO. 2025-075 A RESOLUTION SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF AN UPDATED FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA to be adopted and signified his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
