Minutes-03/08/1978

The Tiffin City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on March 8, 1978 in City Hall. Mayor Formanek presiding. Councilmembers present: Stratton, Morgan, Sheridan and Potter. Absent: Janssen. Residents present: Darla Bartels, Leonard Vorel, Al and Edna Miller, Ted Spivey, Ann Verry, Virgil Potter, Fred Moore, Jane and Jim Pearl, Helen Bryant, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Allen. Also present: Bill Cox, Keith Spurgeon, Louis Voparil and Barbara Murray. Roll was called at 9:05 p.m. Morgan moved that February 23rd Budget Hearing minutes be approved with a correction to read, "Mayor Formanek presiding." Sheridan seconded and motion carried unanimously. Stratton moved to approve the February 8th regular meeting minutes. Potter seconded and motion carried unanimously. Potter moved to accept the February financial report as corrected. Stratton seconded and motion carried unanimously. Mayor Formanek declared March 20th as Iowa Agricultural Day in the City of Tiffin. Potter moved to table the request for a remodeling and building permit from Louis Voparil until April regular meeting or a special meeting, if requested. Council wishes to investigate the status of municipal services and consult with the City Attorney on building ordinances. Morgan seconded and motion carried as follows: Stratton, Potter and Morgan, Aye. Sheridan, Nay. Morgan moved for Glenn Potter to investigate and develop the position of animal control officer for the City of Tiffin, establish a compensation base, advertize for applicants for the position and report to Council for final approval April 12th. Sheridan seconded and motion carried unanimously. Morgan moved to pay the following bills and accept the following receipts. Stratton seconded and motion carried unanimously.
