TOWN OF TIFFIN TIFFIN, IOWA 52340 Tiffin City Council held a special session, May 24, 1978, 7:30 p.m. in City Hall. Mayor Formanek presiding called roll at 7:45 p.m. Councilmembers present: G. Potter, T. Morgan, J. Stratton and R. Sheridan. Others present: A. Christofferson, V. Long and E. McConnell. Meeting purpose was to hear request from General Telephone Co., Grinnell, Iowa. Ordinance 76-1978 was read. (Following motions carried unanimously.) Potter moved to dispense with previous meeting minutes. Stratton seconded. Morgan moved to dispense with second and third reading meetings for Ordinance 76-1978 to grant General Telephone Co. a franchise renewal. Stratton seconded. Morgan moved for approval of said Ordinance. Potter seconded. Sheridan resolved to call a special election to submit said Ordinance to the Tiffin voters. (Note: Rejection of franchise by electors does not constitute loss of service. Company is obliged to give service until an election is successful.) Stratton seconded. Mayor Formanek declare Ordinance 76-1978 adopted. (Election to be held July 11, 1978.) Potter moved to enter into a contract with Coralville Library for service from July 1, 1978 to July 1, 1979. Stratton seconded. Stratton moved to adjourn at 9:50 p.m. Potter seconded. Roger Formanek, Mayor Beverly J. Birtcher, Clerk-Treas.
