Mayor Potter called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Councilmembers present were Brown, Cox, Spivey, Rohret. Stevens was absent. Also present were Fred Charbon, Mary Hoefer, Barbara Murray.
No one spoke during community forum.
Motion Rohret second Spivey to approve agenda. Carried unanimously.
Potter pointed out that the city's storage shed for the tractor and other equipment sits on the back of the lot at 211 Main Street.
Attorney stated that the lot could be subdivided and that part of the lot which the fire station occupies could be sold.
Charbon asked about the water plant building.
Potter stated that the lot line might run through the water plant building. It would be easier to lease the property.
Attorney stated that lease is easier than dividing the lot because a survey would be required.
Brown stated that a lease would be as good as a sale.
Charbon stated that he felt a lease would be as good as a sale. When the Tiffin Fire Association is done with the property, it reverts back to the city. The Fire Association attorney did not think that a ten year lease was sufficient and would prefer a 50 year lease.
Motion Cox second Spivey to direct Attorney Hoefer to draw up lease between the City of Tiffin and the Tiffin Fire Association for lease of property located at 211 Main Street for use as fire station for a duration of fifty (50) years at a cost of $5.00 per fifty years and specifying that the city will always have access to the town shed sitting on the property. Carried unanimously.
Meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
GLENN R. POTTER, MAYOR
ADELIA S. KERN, CLERK-TREASURER
