Text read by the vision model; check the PDF for anything that matters.Michel: I didn't know it until today. I don't know when Steve found out; not before the last meeting.
Potter: The attorney used to do something right away. It took three weeks to send the letters about the dog complaints. It seems that these things could be done reasonably soon after a meeting instead of waiting until it's time for the next meeting.
Morgan: Yes.
Stratton: Just like this deal with Bream.
Morgan: We are paying for this service.
Spivey: We only meet once a month, so when the attorney doesn't carry out actions, the city's problems get drawn out over many months.
Morgan: The council directed your office to take action against Bream last month and it didn't get done.
Spivey: Maybe the attorney should pay more attention to the smaller towns since we only meet once a month.
Stratton: Maybe we need to get a new law firm.
Michel: I'm sorry you feel that way. I didn't know about Earl Stratton. Bream just didn't get done.
Stratton: We instructed the attorney to send notice to Earl Stratton three months ago.
Hart: I could go and talk to Earl Stratton.
Council consensus to direct Engineer Hart to talk to Earl Statton about the drainage problem created by his cemented driveway at 211 W. Second Street.
Potter reported that a citizen had asked that the council to discuss sidewalk repairs because it's difficult to push strollers around town.
Stoner: Could the town get any help for such a project?
Hart: You could do it by special assessment.
Stratton: That was a mess in Oxford.
Potter: Oxford is still fighting it.
Spivey: It's late in the year to think about it now. How would we know where to start and where to end?
Hart: If a special assessment is done, you need to hold a public hearing.
I could look at the possibility of installing a sidewalk to the school.
Potter: We've talked about this several times. We've looked at the south side before because most of the children wouldn't have to cross Third Street that way.
Stratton: Would you stop at the fence?
Potter: The school might have to move the fence. There's a walkway painted on Third Street entrance to the school.
Eggers: Crossing the school's parking lot is where the child's safety is endangered, not getting up to that point.
Hart: You could hold a community forum to get input from the citizens. This would take less specific information than a public hearing. See what the community wants, then proceed from there. A special assessment is more costly because of legal procedures.
Council consensus to conduct a community forum on proposed sidewalk construction and repairs on Tuesday, October 11, 1988 at 7:00 p.m. at the fire station.
Council consensus to direct attorney to send letter to railroad asking that speed of trains be slowed down through Tiffin and inform them that the crossing needs repair again.
Motion Spivey second Morgan to approve annual financial report on water system for General Electric Credit Corporation. Carried unanimously.
