AGENDA ITEM # K-3 AGENDA INFORMATION TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: July 1, 2026 AGENDA ITEM: Discussion and Consideration of Purchase of Tire Changer as part of the FY 2026-2027 Public Works Budget and Council Action as Needed ACTION: Motion Background As part of the FY 2026-2027 Public Works operating budget, staff is requesting approval to purchase a tire changer for the Public Works Department. Currently, tire mounting and dismounting services are performed by outside vendors. Purchasing a tire changer will allow Public Works staff to perform these services in-house, reducing downtime for City vehicles and equipment, improving scheduling flexibility, and lowering long- term maintenance costs. The equipment will support routine maintenance on the City's fleet, including pickups, utility vehicles, trailers, and other Public Works equipment. Staff obtained a quote from Equipment Systems Inc. for a Hunter 110V Tire Changer with Bead Press Arm. The total quoted cost, including freight, is $10,170.04. The addition of a tire changer will increase the Public Works Department's ability to perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs internally. This investment is expected to: • Reduce reliance on outside vendors for tire service. • Minimize vehicle and equipment downtime. • Improve scheduling flexibility for fleet maintenance. • Generate long-term cost savings through in-house labor. • Enhance overall fleet maintenance capabilities. The requested purchase aligns with the Department's goal of increasing operational efficiency while maximizing the City's investment in its fleet and equipment. Recommendation Staff recommends approval of the purchase of one Hunter 110V Tire Changer with Bead Press Arm from Equipment Systems Inc. in the amount of $10,170.04, as budgeted in the FY 2026- 2027 Public Works Budget.
