CITY OF TIFFIN – Agenda – Work Session 6:30 p.m. - City Hall Wednesday, October 8, 2014 Call to Order and Roll Call The Tiffin City Council met in a Work Session on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at City Hall. Mayor Berner called the meeting to order at 6:31 PM. Roll Call: Kahler, Bartels, Petersen, Upton and Ryan. Also present: Attorney Raiber, Engineer Frederick, Public Works Director Mehmen, Administrator Jackson, and Deputy Clerk Jay. Approval of Agenda Bartles motioned to approve the agenda; seconded by Petersen. All ayes, motion carried. Business Hart-Frederick – Sewer Plant Expansion Randy with H-F-water & waste water- discussion on loan options (SRF) advised that would need a financial advisor. Discussed treatment and testing of water. Discussion on capacity and what is needed at different levels. Increase in water testing and more training would be necessary for public works. Public Works Director Mehmen- discussing issues with current plant. He advised needing head works and lift station at current plant. No need to build one for 10k people if it is not needed yet. As the city grows then start the expansion. Council had discussion on phasing the plant expansion. Main focus on updating the head works with the capacity to handle a minimum of 10k, and then work on next phases as needed. Discussed design time looking to be 4 years. But updating head works could be just 1.5 years. Berner had question on cost to residents and overall cost. Adjournment Bartles motioned to adjourn; seconded by Peterson. All ayes, motion carried.
