Strength Comparison Summary
Johnson Fitness and Push Pedal Pull (P3) each provided us with how they would layout the fitness floor, and their recommended pieces of equipment. They provided two options. The 1st
option is the top of the line equipment. It's the most expensive, but also the most durable and most comfortable to use. Option 2 offers the same number of pieces of equipment, but
offers the more budget friendly pieces. These are slightly less heavy, so maybe a little less durable, and a little bulkier. Either option is going to be suitable for the Rec Center. The 2 main
areas we are addressing is cardio and strength equipment. We will be purchasing the strength equipment, which means this is most likely the same equipment we will have in 10+ years.
Cardio Comparison Summary
Like the strength equipment, Johnson Fitness and P3 provided two options. The first is the top of the line equipment, and the second is more budget friendly. We will be leasing the cardio
equipment, so that means we don't need the top of the line equipment. It will already be getting replaced on a 3 year basis. We are recommending option 2 for Cardio equipment, which
is recommended when leasing. The main difference in the quotes comes down to how many pieces of equipment we want.
Most Important Differences
Johnson Fitness uses Matrix Equipment, P3 uses Precore. Once P3 was able to provide an update to their lease, as well as fitness studio equipment and Platforms, the price for P3
jumped considerably. There's some minor differences in the layouts and pieces of equipment, but this gives a general idea of the recommended layouts. Johnson Fitness quote also
includes Option 3 for strength and cardio. The only difference between option 2 and option 3, is fewer pieces of equipment, and some of the pin select strength equipment being
machines that are dual purpose. I would not recommend option 3 for strength. Several pieces of equipment are different between Johnson Fitness and Push Pedal Pull. In most
instances a close substitute can be found if we find there's a specific piece of equipment that we like.
Questions / Clarifications Needed
Johnson Fitness provides Vibration Reduction Platforms. 2 platforms would cost approximately $9,300. They are designed to limit sound and vibration during several different workouts
where heavy weights would be repeatedly dropped on the floor. Based on the fitness area being on the second floor, I think this would be a worthwhile investment. It will limit noise, and
make it more comfortable for users of the facility. The platforms from P3 are standard platforms, not designed to reduce noise, only impact on the floor. The appearance of the
equipment will be important. The biggest difference between Options 1 and 2 comes down to height of the equipment. Example will be in the packet. Matrix Ultra Series vs Versa Series.
Preliminary Recommendation / Rationale
Either option is going to be great for the Rec Center. At this point, the decision is mostly 1.) Do we want to purchase top of the line strength equipment, or save $20,000-$30,000 and go
with the next best lineup? 2.) Do we want to fill the space with equipment, or remove pieces initially, save money upfront, and give ourselves room to grow down the line? 3.) Do we want
to go with Johnson Fitness or Push Pedal Pull? My recommendation at this time is to go with Johnson Fitness, do Option 2 for purchasing our strength equipment, and a mix of options 2
and 3 for cardio, where we don't quite fill the space, and save a little money upfront to see if there's popular pieces of equipment to add later. The leasing period would allow for roughly 6
months from the initial agreement where we could add pieces to the leasing agreement and keep all equipment on the same schedule.
