Special Meeting, November 30, 1963 (cont'd.) Mr. Nicholas will draw the design for the tanks with the proper holes for pipes and let them bid on that. (10" walls and 2 rows of steel). This was decided after council members tried to determine the reason for such a high cost for an installation such as this. Mr. Nicholas will get estimates from local contractors and council will determine if it will be cheaper to let more than one contract rather than for a package. Mr. Nicholas said we wouldn't need both of the tanks right away—design was based on population expected 20 years from now. He also called and got the seating capacity of the Lark. He said we couldn't let the one tank sit empty; could turn the air supply down to the lowest amount and divide the flow. You could leave it inactive, but it would freeze up in the winter. Test borings: Bored only to depth that sewer is going to be. There was some sandy silt in spots, but mostly clay. Q - If we took this route instead of letting the whole package, it would involve other engineering services. Would this increase our cost? A - Mr. Nicholas said he talked to Jim Powers about that. "As you know, we set up our engineering fee based on our preliminary survey. It appears that we're coming out good on it as far as time spent so far, and that we will be well within the estimate. We will charge the town just our time and materials, with a ceiling that this won't be over a percentage figure based on the contract letting. All that remains to be done is designing the plant and we should be well within our percentage." It would probably be best to have it enclosed completely with a tin roof, and surrounded by a chain link fence. Bill moved, Ted seconded the motion to adjourn. Margie O'Doel TOWN CLERK
