CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL August 13, 2026 • The City’s Movie in the Park event originally scheduled for Friday, August 14, at Park Place City Center has been postponed due to weather. Staff are currently working to identify a new date for the event. Additional information will be shared once the rescheduled date has been confirmed. • Rec Fest this past weekend went very well. I think it undoubtedly was the best one yet. Having the event over two days and starting Saturday’s events at 4:00 p.m. was a winner. Wednesday afternoon staff had a debriefing meeting to discuss the things that went well and the things that can be improved upon or changed for next year. We will have a complete summary of the event for the council to review at the first meeting in September. • This year’s Iowa League of Cities Annual Conference will be held in Bettendorf, September 23-25. For those of you who would like to go, please let me know and I will get you registered. In previous years, we have done a nice job of attending this conference. For those that will be attending, we will coordinate transportation to the conference. Here is the link to the conference schedule. https://iowaleague.org/conference-schedule/ • As a follow-up to the Census Bureau reimbursement for the actual costs of conducting the special census, after only three months of receiving the updated road use tax and local option sales tax disbursements, we are now just one month away from the City’s total investment being fully recouped. When the Council was discussing the option of conducting a special census two years ago, we anticipated that the City’s return on investment would take between one and two years. The actual results have significantly exceeded those expectations.
