Tiffin Volunteer Fire Department Stipend Proposal 5/2/2021 Department Officer Nominal Stipends Fire Chief (1) $10,000-15,000 Deputy Chief/Asst. Note: Fire Chief appoints vol. fire officers w/ advice and consent of City Administrator or Council, and in accordance w/ any min. job performance requirements or min. qualifications. Response Nominal Stipends Recruit $5.00* Firefighter (non certified) $7.50 Firefighter I $1.50 Firefighter II $.50 Fire Instructor I/EMS Instructor $.50 Fire Officer I $.50 Driver Operator – Pumper $.25 Driver Operator – Aerial $.25 Emergency Medical Technician $4.00** $15.00 MAX** *Recruit rate is during probationary period, however, EMS providers may receive EMS rate plus recruit rate if certified at time of hiring. ** EMS only personnel certified at EMT level or higher will receive $7.50 + $4.00 for a total of $11.50. ***All nominal stipends pay for 1 hour for the first hour of the incident and then in quarter hours for time beyond the first hour. Holidays approved by City Council will be paid at 1.5 times rate for volunteer fire and EMS personnel. ****Volunteer must provide proof of certification to fire chief or designee for training file and City for personnel file. EMS division chief to maintain EMS division records. Training/Meeting Nominal Stipends $30 per meeting for each fire/EMS meeting per month regardless of length of meeting - Generally, (2) firefighter meetings/trainings per month, (1) officers meeting, (1) EMS meeting $150 for instructor providing training (each class taught) - Must be state certified Fire Instructor I or EMS Instructor for volunteer to receive stipend SJL
