K-6 - Playground Mulch for City Parks

AGENDA ITEM # K-6 AGENDA INFORMATION TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: September 2, 2021 AGENDA ITEM: Discussion and Consideration of Purchasing Playground Mulch for all City Parks and Council Action as Needed ACTION: Motion SYNOPSIS: All of the City Parks are in need of additional mulch around the playground equipment. Over time this material simply gets compressed and breaks down but it is very rare for all the parks need it at the same time. Brian Detert has gotten a quote from Ever- Green Landscape Nursery & Supply out of Cedar Rapids for 500 yards of material for just under $12,000. This is the company we have gotten this material from in previous years. This is a typically a routine maintenance item for the City but with the amount we are proposing to purchase this year, I thought it was better to make this an agenda item for formal approval.
