______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL September 3, 2021 • Item K-8 – As I briefly mentioned at the last council meeting, we are proposing adding no parking to the east side of Redbird Run from Nightingale Drive to Oakdale Boulevard. The issues with the Post Office have been resolved so with council approval we can proceed. • Project Updates: o LL Pelling has laid the first layer of asphalt in the first stage of the Original Town Phase Two project. Rathje Construction is now working on the storm sewer intakes and the next phase of the watermain and storm sewer pipe work. o The contractor for Trail Phase 6 has cored out the path for the trail. We expect forms to be set next week. o Nolan’s Lawn Care continues to lay the pavers for the City Hall Paver Parking Lot. They expect to be finished with that portion of the project the middle of next week. • I believe some of you have received phone calls about the traffic and speed along Croell Avenue. For some reason the issues we have on this street seem to by cyclical which would coincide with the start of the new school year. We have requested additional patrol in that area from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department. • We continue to review the repair event from Well #4. Preliminary analysis is that the well suffered a power surge from a potential lightning strike. I will have more information on this at Tuesday’s meeting. • A quick update on the City’s Soil Restoration Program; We have 62 properties signed up for the fall season totaling $74,984.41. That amount with the 21 properties that were done in the spring brings the total to $93,440.80. • Just a friendly reminder of the Iowa League of Cities Annual Conference on September 15-17 in Coralville. I know some of you are also signed up for the event which will allow us to coordinate some of the sessions we will attend.
