CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
October 15, 2021
• Project Updates:
o Rathje Construction has finished most of the underground utilities. The
intersection of 2nd Street and Main Street was poured earlier this week and the
non-compliant sections of curb and gutter along Second Street and
Summerhays have been removed. Attached is a revised schedule from Rathje
that will take the project up to winter shutdown.
o The City Hall Permeable Pavers Parking Lot project is substantially complete.
There are a handful of pavers that were damaged during installation that are
being replaced. The curb and gutter sections at the Dog Park Pavers Project
are now complete. The placement of the pavers should start next week.
• A planning progress meeting for the new Public Works Facility was held earlier this
week. Everything is still on schedule for a December bid date. We will set those
public hearing and bid dates at the November 16th meeting. Brian Detert will have an
additional update on the project during his report on Tuesday night.
• We continue to work with Tyler Technologies to make the Clerk/Treasurer’s Report
more user friendly. We are making good progress with that and the report under item
E-2 is yet another version. Please review it and let Abigail or myself know what your
thoughts are on it at Tuesday’s meeting.
• The Cedar Rapids Gazette wrote a nice article about Tiffin and its continued growth
that was published on Monday, October 8th. Here is a link to the article:

rapid-growth/
• Just a friendly reminder and follow-up to my e-mail earlier this week but the next
Joint Entities Meeting is scheduled for this coming Monday, October 18th at 4:30 p.m.
The meeting will be conducted via Zoom and hosted by University Heights. Attached
is the meeting agenda.
• I continue to work on the RFQ for a new City Engineer. I should have a draft of that
to distribute for review at the meeting.
