______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL – NOTES FOR WORK SESSION ITEMS October 15, 2021 • Jon Thomas with Workforce Solutions will be at the work session on Tuesday night to discuss and review the Law Enforcement Assessment Final Report. Jon is not quite finished with the report but is supposed to e-mail it to me over the weekend. Once I receive it, I will forward it to everyone. After discussion of the report, the council will want to then determine what the direction will be for the next fiscal year with the Sheriff’s Department. Brad Kunkel will also be at the meeting to discuss next year’s law enforcement commitment as his budget request is due to the county on October 22nd. Please review the report once I send it to you and come prepared with questions for both Jon and Brad. • Attached is a revised route for the sanitary sewer interceptor line that was discussed a couple of meetings ago. Ben Carhoff will be at the meeting to further review this but the new route has elevation issues that will make the route much more difficult to install the sewer line. • Attached is an updated and revised draft of the Urban Chicken ordinance from the last council meeting. I believe I have the changes that were requested and will have some additional background a few of the issues of concern from both the City of North Liberty and Coralville. The Public Hearing and first reading of the ordinance is on the regular agenda. • Also attached are two new fire ordinances (Hazardous Substance Spills and Fire Safety Permit) for the council’s review. Councilperson Limkemann drafted these and will further explain them on Tuesday night but they generally will allow the City to start billing for certain services provided by the department. Included with the two ordinances is an amendment to the 2018 International Fire Code. The City’s Building Department along with the Fire Chief have worked on and drafted the proposed changes. A public hearing for each is on the regular agenda.
