City of Tiffin Proposed Fire Code 10/15/2021 The following is the proposed local amendments to the 2018 International Fire Code, which was already adopted by the City of Tiffin as part of 155.01, item #2. The primary goal is to be more consistent with the code requirements of other local municipalities, specifically between Tiffin, Iowa City, North Liberty, and Coralville. For that purpose, due to the amount of growth taking place in Tiffin, it has been deemed important to put these amendments in front of City Council for approval as soon as possible to maintain that consistency among the local jurisdictions for the safety of our citizens, as well as our first responders. Adoption of these amendments will also make code compliance easier for contractors working throughout the region. Text in red represents new or changed language relative to the 2018 IFC. Text that is (struck-through) represents deleted language from the 2018 IFC. Text in blue is for informational purposes only. Deleted (struck-through) and informational text is not intended to be present in the formally adopted amendments. Tiffin - Proposed Fire Code Amendments: 155.02 Fire Code Adopted. 1. Except as hereinafter modified, that certain fire code, designated International Fire Code, 2018 edition, including Appendix Chapters B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K, N as published by the International Code Council, which code is specifically incorporated by reference, is adopted as the Fire Code of the City of Tiffin, in the State of Iowa. The provisions of said Fire Code shall regulate and govern the safeguarding of life and property from fire and explosion hazards arising from the storage, handling and use of hazardous substances, materials and devices, and from conditions hazardous to life or property in the occupancy of buildings and premises as herein provided; provide for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said Fire Code on file in the office of the City of Tiffin are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this legislation, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes prescribed in the following sections of this chapter. 155.04 Amendments to the Fire Code. The following sections are hereby revised: Section 101.1. Delete the section and replace with: Title.
