Notes for the Work Session - 10-29-21

______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL – NOTES FOR WORK SESSION ITEMS October 29, 2021 • John, Nick and Nathan Faselt will be at the work session on Tuesday night to talk to the council about their residential building project (attached) in the 300 block of Main Street. This is a concept the council has seen and discussed before but the Faselt’s would like to review it again in light of a potential Downtown Housing Grant opportunity through the Iowa Department of Economic Development. This grant has to be applied for by the City and would require City participation. The grant is specifically geared towards new upper story housing and is only available for communities under 30,000 in population. The Faselt’s have done a lot of research on this so far, have met with Brian Shay and I about it and have also coordinated a conference call between them, ECICOG and myself to seek assistance to helping write the grant. This appears to be a one-time grant opportunity with the deadline being January 31, 2022.
