______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL January 28, 2022 • Last week’s Progress Meeting for Original Town Phase went well as we plan for the spring work and the completion of the project. One item that was discussed was whether or not to go ahead and order the necessary brick pavers for the intersections of Main Street/Third Street and Grant Street/Third Street even though those intersections are in Phase 3 of the project. However, ordering the pavers now would ensure the availability of the materials and should also make sure the colors are an exact match. The only issue for the City would be the capital outlay for the materials would be now instead of at least a year from now. Anticipated cost is $45,570. • Item I-1 – As a result of Tuesday’s budget work session I was able to prepare the notice for the Maximum Property Tax Levy. Although we are just setting the public hearing, it’s important this document is accurate because once it is published, the amounts cannot be increased. Once published the only changes that can be made to it would be to reduce the amounts. I am still double-checking these numbers but attached to the resolution is the draft of the proposed Maximum Property Tax Levy. • As I look at the month of March to try and schedule the public hearing and approval of the budget, I think it is possible we may have to shift the meeting dates. I don’t have that completely figured out yet but I wanted to prepare everyone for that possibility. We have done this in previous years and with there being five Tuesday’s in March, we do have a little more flexibility if that becomes necessary. I will touch upon this a little more at Tuesday’s meeting. • Just a friendly reminder, I will be out of the office February 7th – 9th. I will still be available by e-mail, phone or text.
