ON-GOING PROJECTS
North Park Road Improvements
MSA has completed all field topographic surveys for the project and completed the base map to begin design.
The proposed design alignment has been established along with the typical sections (roadway width, sidewalk
and trail widths) for the corridor. Utility coordination is on-going. The Team is evaluating optimal locations for
the proposed grade-separated pedestrian crossing. Preliminary design efforts continue as the Team works to
prepare the Concept Statement for the project. The Concept Statement will be submitted to the IowaDOT on
or before March 21, 2023.
Highway 6 Concept and Cost Estimate
MSA submitted conceptual plans and typical section to the Iowa DOT for review on July 25, 2022. The IowaDOT
provided comments on December 20, 2022. MSA is revising the typical sections for pavement depths based
on the IowaDOT comments. The concept, typical sections and cost estimate will be finalized in February.
Comprehensive Water System Evaluation
MSA has nearly completed the water model. Once completed, MSA will review the model with the City staff.
MSA has contacted Harn RO Systems and Wigen Water Technologies for proposals to complete the pilot testing
for the Reverse Osmosis (RO) System. Harn is the only manufacturer that provided pricing. The piloting
proposal was about $70,000. Including the City’s responsibilities, the total estimated cost for the piloting would
be about $90,000. These piloting costs are reimbursable through the SRF Planning and Design loan if the City
want to pursue for financing.
A 90-day pilot is required if the iron filters would be removed from the water plant. If the iron filters remain,
a pilot would not be required by the DNR. MSA will discuss the model and pilot testing with City staff later in
February. If pilot testing is desired, we will move quickly to have that scheduled for this spring.
Trail Connection between Roundabout and Parking Lot
MSA completed the survey for this connection as part of the North Park Road project. The base map is
complete and ready for design. A concept will be prepared illustration possible connections to the soccer field
parking lots. This concept will be reviewed with City staff prior to commencing with final design.
