PROJECT UPDATE  A Review of MSA Projects in Your Community City of Tiffin, IA CLIENT LIAISONS: Kevin Bailey, PE / Jake Huck, P.E. Office: 319.364.4773 Cell(s): 319.855.8392/ 563.542.6571 [email protected] / [email protected] DATE: March 3, 2023 ON-GOING PROJECTS North Park Road Improvements The MSA design team continues working on preliminary design efforts required for the Concept Statement submittal. Kevin Bailey and other engineers on the project will meet with City staff to discuss the preliminary design and plans on Thursday, March 9th at City Hall. The Concept Statement will be submitted to the IowaDOT on or before March 21, 2023. Highway 6 Concept and Cost Estimate MSA submitted conceptual plans and typical section to the Iowa DOT for review on July 25, 2022. The IowaDOT provided comments on December 20, 2022. MSA is revising the typical sections for pavement depths based on the IowaDOT comments. The concept, typical sections and cost estimate will be finalized in March and reviewed with the City. Comprehensive Water System Evaluation MSA has the water model completed. We are currently in the process of setting up a meeting with Brent and Doug to discuss. MSA has contacted Harn RO Systems and Wigen Water Technologies for proposals to complete the pilot testing for the Reverse Osmosis (RO) System. Harn is the only manufacturer that provided pricing. The piloting proposal was about $70,000. Including the City’s responsibilities, the total estimated cost for the piloting would be about $90,000. These piloting costs are reimbursable through the SRF Planning and Design loan if the City want to pursue for financing. A 90-day pilot is required if the iron filters would be removed from the water plant. If the iron filters remain, a pilot would not be required by the DNR. If pilot testing is desired, we will move quickly to have that scheduled for this spring. Trail Connection between Roundabout and Parking Lot Three conceptual layouts have been prepared and will be discussed with City staff on March 9th. Once a conceptual alignment has been selected, the design and plans will be completed. PROJECT UPDATE Page 1 of 3
