______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL March 17, 2023 • Attached are two conceptual layouts from MSA for connecting the sidewalk coming out of the roundabout to the soccer field parking lot. Both options are workable and below are some bullet points for each option. After discussion of the two options, we need to provide MSA with direction on the option we’d like them to proceed with. Option A: o Curved connection, storm pipe extensions, manhole and new flared end section. o Slope of trail down to parking lot is over 8.9%. o Tie-in to parking lot allows for re-striping of parking lot for pedestrian walkway south across the parking lot. o Extend 10’ wide trail south of the parking lot to tie-in at the sidewalk by the tennis courts. Option C: o Similar to Option A, but slightly different curved connection. o Less steep than Option A; slope is about 6%. o Provides same connection south to the tennis court area. • Last week we had a meeting with MSA on the Water System Pilot which will help the City to better determine which is going to be the best treatment option. Currently, the pilot is scheduled to start the middle of April for a duration of 90 days. The other item that came out of this meeting were a couple of areas in town that with a little bit of water main extension work, would provide better looping of the water system. These are mostly small areas with the majority of the work that could be done with Phase 3 of the original town urbanization. I will have a map at the meeting on Tuesday night to point out these areas. • We had a meeting with the DOT on Wednesday morning to review the Highway 6 widening concepts which includes the traffic signals at Kimberlite Street and the entrance to the City Park. The meeting went well as we continue to try and determine the scope, timeline and cost share of the project. I will also have a map at the meeting showing the design concept that has been reviewed and discussed so far. • The dates for the City-Wide Garage Sales and the City-Wide Clean-up have been confirmed. The garage sales will be May 5th - 7th and the clean-up day will be on May 20th. • The Downtown Walk Around assessment went really well on Tuesday. I think the committee enjoyed getting to somewhat work with a ‘blank slate’ in reference to the center block of the Original Town. The follow up or session on Wednesday afternoon as went well which gave us a glimpse of items and suggestions that will be in the final report. We should be getting the final report in about six weeks. • If time permits in the work session or regular meeting, I would like to talk a little bit about the City’s dog licensing process, fees and access to the Dog Park. • Just a friendly reminder of the Tiffin Emergency Responders’ Association annual pancake breakfast on Sunday, March 26th, from 6:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Fire Station.
