AGENDA ITEM # K-4 AGENDA INFORMATION TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: November 3, 2023 AGENDA ITEM: Discussion and Consideration of Herky on Parade Sponsorship and Council Action as Needed ACTION: Motion SYNOPSIS: As was briefly discussed at the October 17th council meeting, below is the e-mail from Nick Pfeiffer with Think Iowa City explaining the sponsorship opportunity for a Herky on Parade statue. Since that meeting, the Tiffin Community Fund has met and has generously offered to split the cost of the sponsorship with the City. Tim Orris will further explain this at Tuesday’s meeting. Below and attached is a plethora of information regarding Herky On Parade. We’d love for the City of Tiffin to be a part of it! There are two options for sponsorship. • Option A (DIY It: $2,500): You come up with the design and work with your own artist. • Option B (Choose It: $4,250): You pick from a catalog of approved designs and we turn it over to the artist. • Once either of the above are chosen, we will donate the Herky to the City of Tiffin following the end of the parade in September. The typical charge for this is $5,000, but we are waving that fee for each of the cities we are working with. If not purchased, the Herky is put up for auction in September with the proceeds benefiting a fund to send local kids to camp. There is no strict deadline for a decision but know that there are only 75 statues and once they are all sponsored, that will be it. If you select Option B, the order in which sponsors may select from the catalog is in order that payment is received. That selection process will begin in early December.
