CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
November 3, 2023
• The speed radar signs on Croell Avenue were installed on Monday, October 30th. As
of right now, they have been installed in relatively the same spots in which we have
been setting the speed trailer. We will monitor these locations for their effectiveness
and if they end up needing to be moved, we will do that.
• Attached is a draft of the Water System Q & A that Brett, Adam Endres, MSA and I
have put together. Please review the document to make sure it hits all the points we
want it to before we post this on all of the City’s social media outlets.
• Yesterday was the annual Budget Workshop put on by the Iowa League of Cities that
both Abigail and I attended. There will be much more on this as we prepare for our
budget process, but as I’ve been saying for some time now, the changes coming our
way from the impact of HF718 are going to be significant. I am planning on trying to
spend a little time within my Manager’s Report between now and the end of the
calendar year to give an update on the changes and how we will move forward within
the new tax levy parameters.
• Katie Reierson will be at the next work session to discuss a proposal for a City of
Tiffin logo redesign and a brand identity package. Bri Wilkerson and I met with her
earlier this week and we think she has a really good idea and potential options on how
to move this topic forward with a simple timeline and interactive process.
• I had a conversation with Rachel Harris with the DOT this week about the center
island plantings of the roundabout. Through the permitting process, there is a
DOT/DNR grant available that could fund the plant material and labor for the project.
My goal is to get this grant application submitted by the end of the year.
• Just an FYI, the City’s Auditors will be here on Thursday, November 9th and Friday,
November 10th, to conduct the FY 2022-2023 audit. We were very pleased with the
partnership we established last year with BerganKDV and look forward to working
with them again this year.
• Another FYI, I will be out of the office on Friday, November 17th through
Wednesday, November 22nd. I will still be available though by e-mail, phone or text
and will Teams into the Council Meeting on Tuesday, November 21st.
• Just a friendly reminder that City Hall will be closed on Friday, November 10th in
observance of Veteran’s Day.
