______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL February 2, 2024 • Item I-1 – With the first LOST deposit coming this month, this resolution will zero out the LOST funds from over ten years ago. Since we will be using the same fund to receive this money, we need to start it with a zero balance. The transfer of the money to the Road Use Tax fund follows the ballot language from when this was passed and since there is a small negative balance the RUT fund, we thought this would be an appropriate place to move it to. • I have a meeting scheduled with the Census Bureau on Wednesday, February 7th to discuss the attached cost estimate. At this meeting we are supposed to discuss the cost estimate, the roles and responsibilities of both the City and the Bureau for the special census and make sure all the necessary information has been provided to the Bureau so they can provide the City with a Memorandum of Agreement for the council to potentially act on. Even though the City has until the middle of April to take formal action, I anticipate having this on one of the next two agendas. • I would like to start talking about potential Rec Fest dates for this summer. I will have more information about this on Tuesday night as well as a few dates for consideration. • At this point, I don’t think there will be a need for another special council meeting for the budget. I think the progress that we made on Tuesday night gave me enough direction to get the rest of the budget completed to where we should be able to put the final touches on it within a regular work session. We will deliver updated budget worksheets on Monday afternoon and I anticipate setting a public hearing for the proposed tax rate at the February 20th council meeting. • Just FYI, I am anticipating being out of the office March 6th – 12th. I will still be available by e-mail, phone or text.
