CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
April 12, 2024
• On Monday we had a 30% plan review for the upgrade to the Water Treatment Plant.
The meeting went well and everything is still on schedule. MSA spent half the day
going through things with Brett and Adam to make sure this initial set of plans covers
the big-ticket items required by the DNR. The next plan review is at 60% completion
which should be within the next two months. At that point, MSA will be at the
corresponding work session to review the plans with the council and to answer any
questions.
• The preconstruction meeting for the Kimberlite South – Improvements Project was also
held on Monday. Attached is the proposed schedule for the project. Most of the
meeting centered around notifying the baseball/softball organizations about the project
and how we are going to coordinate the City’s work with the work being done by the
developer on the north side of Highway 6. Although we still have some items there to
get resolved, we believe the two projects will still be able to work in tandem.
• The City has been approached by a resident who wants to take part in a conservation
initiative called ‘No Mow May’. This is simply what it sounds like in that this
initiative encourages residents to not mow their yards for the month of May to help
create habitat for pollinators and other wildlife. This individual wanted to know if the
City would ‘waive’ the portion of the nuisance ordinance that addresses grass height
requirement in order to be able to participate. This is the first time we’ve ever received
a request like this. I’d like to have some feedback from the council on this during the
meeting on Tuesday night.
• The Joint Entities Meeting scheduled for this Monday, April 15th has been cancelled
due to no agenda items. The next meeting will be on Monday, July 15th and hosted by
the City of North Liberty.
• Just a friendly reminder the City-Wide Garage Sales are scheduled for the weekend of
May 3rd – 5th. The City-Wide Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday May 11th.
• Just another friendly reminder that the Tiffin Emergency Responders Association
Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, May 5th from 6:00 – 11:00 a.m.
at the Tiffin Fire Station.
