CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
December 13, 2024
• Item I-2 – This item is back on the agenda as the Johnson County Emergency
Management Commission made some minor changes to the document the council
approved at the November 19th meeting. The changes predominately centered around
the insertion of an ‘Exhibit A’ which is included in this version.
• Items J-1 and J-2 – These two items were tabled at the previous meeting but language in
the Developer’s Agreement has been agreed upon by both parties and is now ready for
council approval. Representatives from Honey Lane Development will be at the meeting
on Tuesday night to answer any questions.
• The City received three RFQ’s for Banking Services that Abigail and I will briefly
discuss on Tuesday night. Although we are still working through some specific items,
we’d like to put together a small committee to review the information to make a
recommendation to the council at the January 7th council meeting.
• Attached is the proposed budget calendar and schedule for the upcoming budget process.
Most of these dates coincide with council meetings but as we have had to do in previous
years, please be prepared for a special city council meeting(s) to be able to complete the
budget.
• Attached is just one slide from the Fire Station Conceptual Design that OPN Architects
has put together from the meetings we’ve had with them since the council approved the
appropriation in September. I will have the entire presentation on the next work session
agenda for the council to discuss ‘general approval’ of the design to allow the Fire
Department to proceed with their fundraising efforts in 2025.
• Item L-3 – Derek Dunkin from the Iowa Snowdrifters group will be at the meeting
Tuesday night just to reintroduce himself to the council as it’s been a couple of years
since he’s been to a meeting. He will also review some items/updates for their
upcoming snowmobiling season.
• Just a friendly reminder of the holiday schedule for City Hall: Closed on Tuesday,
December 24th and Wednesday, December 25th. Closed on Tuesday, December 31st and
Wednesday, January 1st.
• Just an FYI, I will be out of the office on Wednesday, January 22nd through Wednesday,
January 29th. I will still be available by e-mail, phone or text.
