______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL January 3, 2025 • Item I-3 – This is the third of four Tax Abatement Applications from the Hunt project Club the City has to submit to the Johnson County Assessor’s Office prior to March 1st. Just as a reminder, this original tax abatement was approved by the council back in 2017. Phase IV is the only portion of the project that is left. • Item K-2 – Charlie Isaacs with Wildhorse Productions will be at the meeting on Tuesday night to discuss and request the City’s permission to host the rodeo and concert again this year. • There is a possibility of having a Special City Council Meeting on Tuesday, January 14th for the first budget review. This meeting will depend on the progress that can be made leading up to then but as we have done in the past, dedicating a meeting (and possibly one more) solely for the budget has helped the formal approval processes associated with the budget. • The next Joint Entities Meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 13th at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be hosted by Johnson County at the Administration Building located at 913 South Dubuque Street. If anyone has an agenda item they would like to have discussed, please submit it to me prior to Wednesday, January 8th. • Item L-1 – Derek Dunkin from the Iowa Snowdrifters group will be at the meeting Tuesday night just to reintroduce himself to the council as it’s been a couple of years since he’s been to a meeting. He will also review some items/updates for their upcoming snowmobiling season. • On December 30, 2024, the City received approval from the DNR for the preliminary Engineering Report for the Water Treatment Plant upgrade and the construction of a new 400,000 gallon clear well. Hopefully, this means a full permit for the project should be approved before the end of the month. • Brian Shay will distribute his annual report at the meeting Tuesday night. • Just an FYI, I will be out of the office on Wednesday, January 22nd through Wednesday, January 29th.
