Date: 1/29/2025 E-mail address: [email protected] Name: Jillian Shrader Address: 730 Timber Ridge Ct, Tiffin, IA, 52340 Phone number: 319-631-5222 FAX number: N/A Application for which Board/Commission: Zoning Board of Adjustments Place of employment (and/or activities such as hobbies, volunteer work, etc, that you may feel qualify you for this position): Currently a legislative Clerk in the Iowa House of Representatives. I have previously worked and volunteered on various political campaigns, canvassing throughout Tiffin. My educational and much of my work experience before this has been environmental-focused, and I have studied urban planning and environmental planning and policy. Throughout my professional career, I have gained much experience talking with community members and constituents. The following questions will assist the Mayor and City Council in its selection; however it is not necessary to complete this information to be eligible for consideration: • How much time will you be willing to devote to this committee? Until the beginning of May, I work 2-3 days a week in Des Moines at the Capitol. Aside from that, I can offer evenings and weekends as necessary. • Reason for applying? I would like to get more involved in my local community, especially as Tiffin continues to grow. • Contributions you feel you can make to the Board/Commission: I have lived in Tiffin for 17 years, attending Clear Creek-Amana for my entire education. Because of this, I can bring an extensive history and knowledge of the town. I am also connected to various families and individuals throughout the town, and believe I know what many of them hope to see in the future of Tiffin. Many of my connections are young people starting new families in town, and I want to help keep it a wonderful and affordable place to settle and raise families in. • Direction/role you perceive of this Board/Commission: Due to my environmental background, I hope to do my best to keep Tiffin as "green" as possible, while providing affordable housing, economic opportunity, and a continued livelihood for our farmers. Along with this, as more and more young people stay in and come to Tiffin to live, I want to make it a town in which they can envision a future, which has SO much to do with the zoning regulations here. • In lieu of / in addition to the above, do you have any comments to add that may assist the Mayor and City Council in its selection? My family and I have lived in Tiffin since I was a kid, and I am determined to do my part to make it a place where my community feels safe and happy living.
