______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL – NOTES FOR WORK SESSION ITEMS February 28, 2025 • Sheriff Kunkel, Sergeant Hynes, Deputy O’Hare will be at the work session on Tuesday night to review the new law enforcement contract year to date. This is something we will be doing on an annual basis and times out well with the budget approval process. For the council’s reference, a copy of the contract that was approved in November of 2023 is included in the packet. Also included is a short PowerPoint presentation reflecting the first year of the contract so far. Sheriff Kunkel will be introducing the two new deputies that will be joining Sergeant Hynes and Deputy O’Hare on July 1st, when the contract increases to 24-hour coverage. • Shawn Krantz, owner of Olde Town Construction, has purchased the lot at 1700 Mopar Drive, which is the vacant lot with the existing concrete pad at the northwest corner of Mopar and North Park Road. This lot has an approved building permit issued to Andersen Holdings, LLC, in June of 2021. With the change in ownership and building usage, the building permitting process starts all over. With this lot somewhat being an ‘outlier’ (tucked between single-family, two-family and commercial districts) staff sought assistance from the City Council in 2021 for the permit to approve the building elevations. With the new proposed changes, staff is again seeking assistance for the approval of the permit. Attached is the approved building site plan concept from 2021, and the new proposed site plan concept from Olde Town Construction. Shawn will be at the meeting Tuesday night to discuss the plan and will have samples of the materials he is proposing to use for the construction of the building. • Time permitting, I would like to review the FY 2025-2026.
