______________________________________________________________________________ CITY OF TIFFIN CITY ADMINISTRATOR REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL June 27, 2025 • Dirt work began this week on the Water Treatment Plant Upgrade Project. The detour for the trail started first with additional dirt work to start on the eastern part of the site once the area dries out. • Weather has slowed the progress of the Original Town Project. However, most of the core out for West 3rd Street and Main Street has been completed. Rathje has run into some poor soils for about a 75-foot stretch of West 3rd Street and is recommending additional core out and subbase in that area. This would come in the form of a change order in which I am hoping to still get on this agenda in order to keep the project moving forward. • The pedestrian tunnel for the North Park Road Project has been installed but took a little longer than expected. As a result, Boomerang has requested a change in the staging of the project. This change will allow for more paving south of the tunnel to be completed. However, it is anticipated that the entrances to both schools should not be affected once school is back in session. • Rec Fest is a little over a month away, scheduled for Saturday, August 9th. Planning continues for this year’s event which includes a change in venue. As discussed previously, the event will be held in the open green space area between the New York and Ventnor buildings in the Park Place City Center. A lot of what is left to finalize is what I would call the small detail(s) items. The event flyer will be in the next council packet. • In an effort to help mitigate the detour traffic on Croell Avenue, attached are two potential options for the intersections of Croell Avenue and Oakdale Boulevard and Croell Avenue and Goldfinch Drive. One is a solar flasher that can be placed on the tops of the existing stops signs and the other would be the same blinking stop signs that are currently placed on Croell Avenue and Dogwood Lane. The solar flashers are about $200 a piece and the blinking stops signs are about $350 a piece. The recommendation would be to install one of these two options in the north and southbound lanes. • Just a friendly reminder, I will be out of the office July 9th – July 11th at the IaCMA Summer Conference.
