Doug Boldt To: Benjamin A. Carhoff Subject: RE: Engineer's Report for January 19th Council Meeting From: Benjamin A. Carhoff <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, January 12, 2021 1:26 PM To: Doug Boldt <[email protected]> Subject: Engineer's Report for January 19th Council Meeting We are proceeding with the close-out of the WWTP project with Portzen Construction. Gabby and I are in contact with IDNR and the SRF Staff. We have received IDOT Audit comments on The Roberts Ferry Road project with Vieth Construction. We are addressing those and making corrections where needed. There will be a balancing change order in the near future. The change order increases or decrease the contract quantities to reflect the actual amount installed. It does not change the amount of money earned by the contractor. Other Federally funded project have had similar change orders; it is the preferred method by IDOT to make things match. Vieth still owes us some documentation. Final payment to Vieth will be processed after all documentation is received from them. Carter & Associates will begin work on Trail Phase 7 in the second week of February. They had been waiting for the ground to freeze enough to allow for the delivery of pipe to the cornfield. Paving work will begin in April and the project should be finished by June. The Gateway Sign at the roundabout, I believe, has been delayed due to the amount of snow we received. A little bit of frost would not have been a problem, but moving the snow on unfrozen ground would have made a mess. Two signs and some pavement markings still need to be replaced at the roundabout. Once that work is completed this spring, we will proceed with the project audit and close-out. Another light pole has been hit in an accident and needs to be replaced. I have contacted the Trey Electric for quotes. The cost will likely be around $7000, like the other pole. Trey Electric was the electrical subcontractor on the project. Rathje will begin work on Phase 2 of the Original Town Urbanization this spring. The Permeable Paver Parking Projects will also start up this spring. Trail Phase 6 will be let to bid this spring. The final construction plans are being reviewed by the DOT and Interstate Railroad. Benjamin A. Carhoff, P.E.
