CITY OF TIFFIN
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL – NOTES FOR WORK SESSION ITEMS
May 28, 2021
• Attached is the updated Fire Department Stipend proposal from the last work session.
There were only a few minor changes from the last version which have been made. As a
result, a resolution is on the regular agenda if the council is ready for its approval.
• Bri Wilkerson and Frank Haege will be at the work session to discuss with the council the
possibility of having a city-wide event this summer called Tiffin Rec Fest on July 31st.
This is an idea that kind-of takes in both the creek fest and national night out. I briefly
mentioned this a couple of meetings ago during my manager’s report but now they are
ready to present their idea. Attached is a proposed schedule of events and costs. Bri and
Frank would like feedback from the council on whether or not this would be a good event
to host this year and if so, does the date and lineup of activities look acceptable.
• Attached for review and discussion is a schematic drawing, short narrative and summary
of costs for the emergency access road off of the end of Village Drive to South Park Road.
We have met on-site with Brain Engineering and C.J. Moyna to determine location, grade,
road width and rock thickness. I am looking for feedback and direction from the council
to give to C.J. Moyna on whether to proceed with this specific plan or if there are any
minor changes the council would like to see to the road.
• Matt Adam would like to discuss with the council the attached proposed concept for
Prairie Village – Phase Three. Although this could end up being done in phases, the
proposal is for a single-family, multi-family and commercial development. Matt would
also like to talk about the connection of Kimberlite Street to Highway 6 and the
installation and possible cost sharing of the traffic signal at that intersection.
