AGENDA ITEM # K-6 AGENDA INFORMATION TIFFIN CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION DATE: July 31, 2025 AGENDA ITEM: Consideration of Automatic Flushing Hydrant at the West end of the Industrial Park ACTION: Motion Purpose The Kupferle Eclipse 9800 Automatic Flushing Hydrant with direct discharge is a permanent, automatic water flushing station designed primarily for cold climates. Here's what it's used for and how it works: • Maintains Water Quality: It automatically flushes water lines to remove stagnant water, increase chlorine residuals, and prevent the formation of disinfection byproducts. • Improves System Efficiency: By flushing on a scheduled basis, it helps maintain consistent water quality without manual intervention. The estimated cost for the unit, including installation, is approximately $6,480. Funding is available in the current Water Utility Capital Improvement Budget. Recommendation Staff recommend the purchase and installation of one Kupferle Eclipse 9800 Automatic Flushing Hydrant with direct discharge in the West end of the Industrial Park to proactively address water quality concerns and improve operational efficiency.
