Mayor Pro-tem Spivey read a letter from Jason Manufacturing thanking the council for the courtesy extended at the special meeting on April 24. A letter was read from the Johnson County Health Dept. asking the Town to contribute $320 to enable the Health Dept. to carry on its work. These questions were asked- 1. Do we have to pay? 2. What if we don't? 3. Do we have the money? 4. Will they give us services if we don't? Dale Flansburg made the motion to give Attorney Neuzil the authority to find out about this. Ned Allen seconded the motion. By a roll call vote it was Aye-Allen, Flansburg, Michel, and Potter. Nay- None. A letter was discussed from Mr. Neuzil to Maurice Burr of the Highway Comm. Mr. Neuzil reported he met with a man from the Highway Comm. on April 10 or 11. The representative told Mr. Neuzil the Highway Comm. can not take down the trees by the highway. These are the Town's responsibility. He also said that Highway #6 stops on each edge of Tiffin, and that the street belongs to the Town. Since the Town does not have the equipment the Highway Comm. maintains it. The ditch east of Franks was discussed. The man agreed we do not have the equipment to do it and it will have to be done to meet certain specifications. He will have Mr. Burr come out to see how wide, deep, etc. the ditch would have to be.
